party plan biz
Starting a party planning biz for kids?

I have long wanted to start my own party planning business specifically for kids…complete theme experiences from the cake to the decorations, games and crafts. I have experience with my nieces’ and nephews’ birthdays and as an Activities Director for our church (for both adults and kids) and have recieved rave reviews…but how do I really get the word out? As parents, would this be something you would be interested in for your kids? I’ve checked around and a lot of the party planning places here charge about $15/hr – that seems like an awful lot to me…what do you guys think? I would appreciate any input. Thanks!

I paid about $300 for the last party – fully catered – 8 kids – with full entertainment for 2 hours – it was pricey – but I did not have the time to do it myself.

You already have the word out because you are getting rave reviews.

Go to vistaprint – get cheap business cards made up, distribute them to people who have been to your functions & ask them to spread the word.

home party plan sales

If you are in business for yourself selling wholesale goods and are looking for another way to sell them here is a great idea. The home party plan is about getting a group of people together and showing your items. This is a great way to get repeat customers and sales at the same time. Humans by nature love to see, feel, and touch things; that is why physical businesses are still doing better than most websites. Most products really do sell themselves you just have to give the customer a chance to connect with the product.

Here is how to run a successful party.

Start with a guest list. At first this may just be friends and family, but this may also help get your confidence up before doing this in front of people you don’t know. Create some invitations and describe what type of items you have and what kind of deals you are offering. If you have a catalog and are able to offer discounts on the items, then say so. If possible add some images of items for sale and prices. This will give the guests an idea of what the party is about. It may also help to ask for a RSVP so that you can plan around how many guests will be there.

Invitations are not the only way to get the word out about your party. The phone works just as good and you will know right away if they are able to attend or not. You can also place an ad in the newspaper about your party. A simple ad stating that you are having a party, there will be refreshments, and the items you are selling, will get lots of people calling.

It is important to plan out the room so that everyone can see you and be close enough to hand them items. If you will be hosting the party at your house you will need to arrange the furniture so that it is conducive to conversation. A table at the center of the room that is large enough to display the items that you are selling. A table with refreshments at the side of the room is a great idea; this creates a sense of care for your guests.

When beginning the party it is important to greet them at the door. The greetings can be simple if you know them and a little more informative if you don’t. Keep the conversation light to make the guests as comfortable as possible. After all the guests arrive give them an introduction about you, background of you and your business, tell them how proud you are of your products, and let them know the great prices or discounts you are offering.

While showing your products, pass them around and let the guest feel and touch the products. This will let them a see the value of the item and have more of an interest in it. Take your time and try not to rush this part, you will want them to understand you and you don’t want them to feel like they are being rushed.

Be prepared to take as many forms of payment as possible. Credit and Debit Cards are becoming more and more popular so it might be worth the time to get yourself a merchant account that will allow you to process credit cards over the phone. This way you will know the payment is good right away.

Some hosts like to sell their displays while others don’t. It depends on what you are selling and how many you have with you. One advantage to selling displays is that you won’t have to pack them out. A disadvantage is the some guests may lose interest if someone else buys the item they wanted. Impulse buyers want it now and if they can’t have it now they don’t want it anymore.

There are two other benefits of throwing a home party. One is getting contact information from everyone; this will help you build a mailing list of people that are very interested in your products. The other benefit is offering your guests the chance to host their own parties and make some money too.

Home party plans are a simple and easy way to get started in business for yourself. The process is easy to follow and has minimal costs involved besides purchasing the items to begin with. These can be as fun and exciting as you make it, so make it.

party plan party games

The wedding day is approaching fast, so it’s probably time to start thinking about the bachelorette party. Planning it should be fun, so don’t sweat the fact that you know nothing about them.

Like with other kinds of parties, bachelorette party planning starts with a couple of important decisions. Figure out the location, then move on the the fun stuff you can do during the party.

First, figure out where the bride would be most comfortable. The reason is because some of the activities can be a little embarassing. Having it in public may be more than the bride can handle.

If she doesn’t embarrass easily, having it out in public will probably work. If she’s shy, and doesn’t like a lot of attention, then giving her some of those naughty, male-member type gifts at the local bar probably isn’t a good idea. The name of the game is fun, so doing anything to totally embarrass the bride-to-be would be a waste her last night out as a single girl.

When planning your activities for the party, you can be as conservative or as crazy as the bride-to-be’s personality will allow. You don’t want to plan anything like a male stripper for your friend if she’s extremely straight-laced and would hate you forever if you did it. On the other side of that, you don’t want to plan a knitting party for your friend who loves to party into the night at the local clubs.

Here are just a few of the fun bachelorette party games/activities that are available:

  • Suck for a Buc
  • The Cherry Game
  • A scavenger hunt
  • Bridal Pictionary
  • Bridal Shower Bingo
  • Karaoke
  • Pin the “Tail” on the Hunk

No matter which way you decide to go (conservative or crazy), it’s a good idea to get the other ladies from the wedding party (not including the bride-to-be – she’s busy enough with wedding plans) to help you out. If the others aren’t take-charge kind of people, come up with a list of items you’d like to accomplish, and assign something to everyone.

Involving everyone in the planning process is not only more fun, but it will take the pressure off of you trying to get everything done by yourself. The whole bachelorette party planning process (say that 3 times fast) should be fun, so anything you can do to make it more enjoyable for everyone involved will make for a successful party.

party plan consultants

Party plan is a term synonymous with fluffy slippers, a host with a lounge room of giggling women, and sadly pyramid schemes. For years this vehicle for making money has been pushed aside, defamed, ridiculed and the butt of jokes. But who’s really having the last laugh? In a tough economic climate, this time tested means for making money has become the salvation for many. Party planners are laughing all the way to the bank, these everyday people who have put aside their prejudices and joined world wide recognised brands like Mary Kay, Tupperware, Creative Memories are making money, flying in the face of a recessionary tornado.

Why are party planners so successful? Simple, they sell everyday products consumed by everyday individuals, in everyday homes, all with the convenience of home shopping. In a time poor society, home shopping has becoming increasingly popular, akin to shopping online but with the added benefit of personal customer service.

According to the worldwide federation of direct selling this billion dollar industry, boosts annual sales of US$114 billion generated through the activities of more than 62 million independent sales representatives members world wide. Even former US president Bill Clinton, recognises the merits of the industry, officially endorsing the direct selling industry, saying ‘Direct selling strengthens the US and its economy, providing an opportunity for a better future’. In fact so popular is party plan, it is estimated, a Tupperware party starts somewhere in the world every 2.3 seconds;

‘Putting aside the statistics, there are too many success stories, to deny the industry its due merits. Well known author Robert Kiyosaki, of the bestseller, Rich Dad, Poor Dad, recognises the benefits offered by direct selling. He has been quoted singing the industries praises, he says ‘A business in direct selling is the ticket to what I call freedom money’. Where the average person can enjoy the benefits of financial success without the hassles associated with a traditional business’.

A complete misunderstanding of party plan, is probably the main reason why it is not readily considered as an alternative and safer option to start a business from home. Each and every day, across world small business owners are hitting the wall, sinking considerable amounts of capital, chasing their entrepreneurial dreams. Whereas a distributor has the opportunity to make money, with the support and stability from multi million dollar icons like Avon who have successfully weathered several recessions.

There are several reasons why party plan could work for you;

  • Flexibility work life balance

Party plan allows you to work the hours you want and when you want. Party plan consultants are rewarded according to the effort they exert. Moms in particular are empowered to work around their family’s busy schedule and commitments.

  • Equal opportunity

One of the endearing and compelling merits of party plan, is the underlining non-discriminatory nature of the industry.’ No prior qualifications are required to ensure success; you need only possess, commitment, determination and a ‘can do’ attitude.

  • Low Cost

Party plan provides anyone and everyone with an opportunity to realise their entrepreneurial dreams, this is in part because the cost to start a business as a party planner, is much more affordable than buying the latest designer pram or plasma TV. This is an important point, many people want to start their own business, but lack the capital to do so.

  • Low risk

Going into business for yourself, means you are not only risking personal capital you are exposed to a plethora of business related worries and stress, it can be very overwhelming and very risky. Party plan provides quite the opposite opportunity, you are exposed to a limited risk because you don’t bear the burden of the managing the company, your role is to simply support the company as a party plan consultant.

  • Free support

Party plan not only represents a relatively lower risk, party planners receive free training and enjoy the benefits of a well established business, including the support of a national marketing campaign, brand recognition and the strength in established systems and processes. Party planners are free of the cumbersome troubles that plague business owners, they are more empowered to get on with the job of building their business.

  • Passive income

Party plan offers the opportunity to earn passive income.  Passive income is money you are entitled to without actually having to work for. For example once you sell a product to a customer, every time that same customer reorders, you will be entitled to a commission on the sale. Alternatively you could gain leverage by building a team, earning commissions from the sales made by your team. Most party plan companies empower their party planners to build teams – that’s money for jam.

For less than the cost of a dinner date, anyone and everyone can ‘Give it a Go’. Party plan is unequivocally the only equal opportunity where, few barriers to entry means no one is discriminated against, from the less educated to the Rhodes scholar, the defining point between success and failure is attitude.
