What are some party plan companies?
I know about the ones that have been around forever like Avon and Tupperware, but I’m looking for something different. I don’t want to sell crystal, candles or jewelry and I don’t want to have passion parties. I’m sure there’s something else out there I’m looking for suggestions and also for opinions or your experiences with companies. Thanks!
There is every kind of product you can imagine that are made by companies that use independent reps/distributors to market their products. Baby clothes, Toys, books, pet products, food, housewares, cosmetics, scrapbooking supplies etc.
The thing to keep in mind is to pick products that most households buy every year and are consumable (are used and will be replaced or purchased again) It makes it a lot easier to get repeat business from your customers.
Some of the types of products that you indicated you don’t want to sell are some of the most profitable products to market because people in most households buy them every year.
Others that you list are more unusual and have less universal appeal so I would agree with staying away from them.
For example, Tupperware makes great products but they last forever. I have a set of Tupperware bowls I bought over 20 years ago and I have never bought another set of Tupperware bowls because I only need one set and I haven’t needed to replace them. No repeat business from this customer.
Tupperware also tends to be rather expensive, so even though they last a long time, many people will opt for less expensive brands of storage containers when their budget gets squeezed.
Since Tupperware has been around for such a long time, there are a LOT of reps to compete against for customers, making it difficult to build a customer base.
Products that are more universal like candles and cosmetics are purchased, used and purchased again several times a year, making it easier to build your income with repeat business from your customer base.
I have experience with several home-based businesses over the years with several different types of products and the one I have found to be the most fun and profitable for me is selling clean-burning, natural vegetable wax candles, (both “real” & wickless), soy based bath & body products and cosmetics.
Purse Party Seeking Consultants!!

trying to find suitable party plan business?
hi there I am a mum of 2 and would really love to work as a party plan consultant, the only problem is I cant find a suitable company. I would really love to work with childrens clothing but I cannot find any companies, does anyone know of anything worth looking into?
Home Interiors is very good – they sell home decorating accessories. They have great products. PartyLite is another good one – candles & accessories.

Do you have an idea for a great party, but don’t know how to make it happen. Don’t fret, for you have come to the right place. Party planning is my game and information is forthcoming.
Party planning can be difficult if you don’t know how to begin. You may find yourself running around at the last minute for party supplies or maybe you forgot to send out the invitations. If this was to occur it would be definitely be the loneliest party I have ever heard of. In order to keep your party planning on track you will need to follow these steps.
1) Decide what type of party you want to have. If you haven’t already made a decision, make one now. Do you want a theme party. A few different types are: pool, barbeque, luau, construction, Halloween, Hollywood, Casino and Arabian Nights. Those are your most popular themes, just to name a few. There are many other types of parties. If you know what type of party you plan on throwing it will make it that much easier to prepare for.
2) Create a checklist. This should be second on the order of business. This is where you will outline the various phases of your planning. Once you have a piece of paper with the word ‘Checklist’ written on it you are ready for the next phase.
3) A guest list: This is an important part of your party planning. In order to move on to the other steps you must have a very good idea as to the amount of guests, the ages of the guests and the eating and drinking habits of the guests. For instance, if one of your invitees are vegetarian you will want to have something prepared especially for them. Don’t take anything for granted. After all, you are looking to have an absolute smash that everyone will enjoy.
4) Once you have your guest list prepared and written out on your checklist you will need to either send out invitations or do things the old fashioned way by using the phone. However, it is much classier and personalized if you send out invitations. You can either have them prepared by a professional or craft them yourself.
5) After a week or so goes by you should have a very good idea who is coming. Now is the time to go out and get your party supplies. There are ways of doing this that is tantamount to an exact science. It won’t be outlined here, but with the information you have about the number, age and eating and drinking habits of your guests you should be able to come up with the right amount of food and drink for everyone. Don’t cut yourself short. Buy plenty of snacks, and whatever else you may need. If you hired an outside caterer be sure to go over the guest list with them. They will want to know the amount of guests, but don’t forget to add any details they must know about, like ‘your Great Aunt is diabetic’ or something to that effect.
7) Food and beverages: The food is probably the greatest treasure you can have at any party, with the exception of alcohol, so make sure the preparations are done ahead of time. Have everything you need to avoid any last minute shopping, that way you can create your master piece without any untimely setbacks.
6) Decorating: Are you having the party inside or outside. If it is going to be indoors, be sure to have ample seating for everyone who agreed to come, plus a few extra chairs. Don’t leave someone standing because you didn’t expect them to come. Unless they told you specifically they weren’t going to make it, expect them. A good idea for decorating is to always use flowers. You can spice up your dining room, living room or any room in the house with a beautiful flowery ensemble set nicely in a watery vase.
The next phase of your party planning will be to have everything cleaned and ready. You are about to have a party and you want to have everything looking perfect. So do your cooking, then your cleaning and get yourself cleaned and shined. The guests are on their way and they are expecting to have a great time. It is up to you to make that happen. A good tip for any host is: a happy host makes a great host and a great host throws unbelievable parties. Have an awesome time.

Some of the best ways to advertise your party plan company are through local, inexpensive methods of “errand advertising”.
What is errand advertising? This is advertising you do on your own, as you carry out your daily errands. Most of it is free, or costs very little to implement.
When you are involved in direct sales, most of the time, the customer is purchasing products from you because they like you, not because they desperately need the products. There are exceptions to this, of course, but I’ve found that the friendlier and more dedicated the consultant, the higher her sales.
There are many ways to advertise “you” while out and about. Here are a few tips to get you started:
1.Always look your best
The first, and probably most important part of Errand Advertising is to always look your best when out and about. You don’t necessarily have to dress as though you are attending a demonstration, but make sure you clothing is neat, pressed, clean, and attractive.
Do your hair, put a little make up on, don’t appear as though you have just rolled out of bed or have been painting the house.
A little goes a long way here. With errand advertising you are representing your business. You want strangers and future customers to believe you run a neat and tidy business, so you have to appear neat and tidy as well.
2.Personality is a plus
Whether you are talking to a burned-out grocery clerk, the woman in line behind you at the bank, or even your own children in public, personality is very important when advertising you.
Having a negative or bad attitude or being cranky, unfriendly, or unapproachable will do little to further your goals. Instead, remember to smile often, make positive comments, and reprimand your children publicly in a manner that does not convey how stressed-out or frustrated you are.
People are naturally attracted to positive people. When you radiate positive confidence, others instinctively want to do business with you.
3.Tote your catalogs
The most important part of errand advertising is to actually advertise that you are a consultant for a particular direct sales company. One of the most effective ways to do this is by purchasing a clear pocket tote bag.
This clear pocket is built specifically to hold your catalogs. You place a catalog or brochure in the window of the tote, and use it as your purse. The totes come in a variety of sizes, or can be custom made to fit your particular needs.
As you go about your errands, potential customers can see that you are a representative or a consultant for a direct sales company, and if they are interested in you and your products, the customers will approach you to ask for a catalog.
While this is the exact response you are looking for, I caution you to not just give your catalogs away, but tell the customers in a cheeky way that you trade catalogs. Let them know that you will give them a catalog in exchange for their business card.
If they do not have a business card, have them write their name, email, address and phone number on the back of one of your cards instead.
This way they have what they want: a catalog, and you have what you want: a contact.
4.Leave your nametag on
Another way to advertise what direct sales company you are a distributor for is to casually leave your nametag on. This works especially well on those days when you are dressed as if you are giving a direct sales home party.
Interested people will stop you and ask if you have any catalogs available, which, of course, you do, so long as they will trade their information for it.
5.Buttons prompt action
Simple pin-back buttons can also be a great addition to your errand advertising accessories. You can place a pin-back button next to your name tag, or attach it to your clear view tote.
The button should have some sort of catchy saying on it that will entice strangers and potential customers to take action to approach you about your party plan business.
Things like, “Place an order, get a gift” or “Ask me how to earn $1000″ are examples of what you can do.
Some consultants get very creative with their pin-back buttons. They offer discounts, mention fundraising, offer their opportunity, or even offer incentives for asking for a catalog.
Keep your message short, simple, and noticeable.
6.Let your car do the talking
Probably the easiest way to advertise your home party plan business while you are running around doing errands is to purchase a vinyl decal for your vehicle.
These decals are very inexpensive, and can be custom made to advertise the information you wish.
First and foremost, you want your home party company name in big bold letters. After that, you can choose to include your telephone number and/or your website address.
Depending on your area, and your direct sales company, you may wish to omit your telephone number for safety issues. Make sure you measure your car’s back window to see how large your decal should be, and get your letters done in white.
Now everywhere you go your car will be advertising for you!
